As difficult as it is to believe, many Hoodia supplements do not actually contain Hoodia gordonii. This South African plant was long used by African natives to suppress their appetite during extended hunting trips. There are many hoodia pills on the market and they all claim to be from this miraculous plant. They are supposed to be able to help you lose weight on the same principle. However, the truth is, most hoodia is not genuine hoodia but really filler. Are you wondering why a company would do this and claim it’s real? Or even how to find genuine hoodia without a laboratory?

Hoodia gordonii is actually an endangered species of plant, so its harvesting and selling must be monitored by government agencies so as to ensure the continued survival of the plant. Basic principles of supply and demand now come into play. Because the plant is not prolific and is difficult to obtain legally, the price of pure hoodia is very high. Unscrupulous manufacturers who want to profit from interest in hoodia but who do not want to pay the high prices for authentic hoodia often resort to using fillers, thus creating a useless supplement.

Unfortunately, pure hoodia can be difficult to find an even more difficult to believe. Real hoodia gordonii’s main chemical is known as P57. This is the chemical that actually suppresses the appetite. Since supplements are largely unregulated by the FDA, there is really no guarantee that your hoodia is authentic. The best way to tell, without a laboratory, is to research the companies you plan to buy from in advance. This way, you can find out whether or not they use genuine hoodia extract or offer a certificate of authenticity.

The Better Business Bureau is a great place to start. Since they keep records of companies with complaints against them, they will have records of complaints from people saying which companies are selling imitation Hoodia. These are the companies you do NOT want to buy from. As for the companies that are not listed, contact the company, and ask questions. The answers you are trying to determine is whether or not they use pure hoodia. Hoodia gordonii is only one of the two that is proven successful in suppressing the appetite. The other has no effect. Look for hoodia gordonii on the label.

With just a little investigation, you’ll find out which company sells real hoodia gordonii and which ones just sell filler. Obviously, authentic hoodia gordonii costs more than fillers, but why would you want to spend your money on a filler that does absolutely nothing? If you decide that hoodia is for you, make sure you only buy real hoodia gordonii.

There are diet pills that have authentic hoodia. To get more info about these diet pills read our complete review on HoodiaP57.
