If I start exercising (15 minutes a day? or more?) and eating only healthy foods now, how long will it take to get my triglycerides down?

As long as it takes. Just start it.
It depends on what your triglyceride levels are. It’s actually hard to say how long it will take. Exercise and healthy eating are a start but sometimes it will only be reduced after taking medication.
Please see the link below for the types of medication that can be used to treat high triglycerides.
Hi there
Your question sounds simple, but is actually quite complex. The first is to be sure you are talking about a fasting Trig level, as the level of fat in our blood varies throughout the day in response to what we eat.
If we assume you are asking about fasting Trig, then you can expect both exercise and diet to have an effect in a reasonably short amount of time. Exercise will help by increasing your insulin sensitivity, and as such lowering your Trig levels (the mechanism behind this is complex). Exercise may also help you lose some weight (if you need to) or lower your % body fat – this too affects the circulating level of lipids, including Trig, but does take longer to measure.
FInally, reducing your intake of alcohol (if you drink) and avoiding lots of sugary foods will have an immediate effect on your Trig levels. Increasing your consumption of oily fish, or taking fish oil capsule rich in long chain omega-3 fats (EPA and DHA) will also lower your Trig levels, and this is noticeable in just a few weeks .
Hope that helps a little!
