Beware. I think I o. d’ed on this stuff. I’ve been taking different brands of ArgenineAKG products for about two years, somewhat regularly. While never more than 5,000 mg a day, I never took extended breaks (what I now know to be “cycles. “). I work out about three times a week. When I first started to take it (another brand) I thought it was great and bragged about it to others. I still think it has value and a good product, if used properly. I came across Nitrix, liked the price and took it for about five months. Again, 5,000 mg a day but no breaks or cycles.
I then stated to feel very tired throughout the day and my sleep patterns were odd and irregular. I even switched from decafe to caffeinated coffee thinking that would help. Nothing different, still tired and my workouts suffered. Inexplicably, I just decided I needed help and something snapped and I sort of remembered the directions on the container: “After 12 weeks, discontinue use for at least 4 weeks. ” I detoxed. I quit cold the Nitrix and the caffeine coffee. (But I continued my B6, B12 and Omega-3 supplements) Within days I was 100% better! I had more energy and my worksout improved.
Also, so says the directions, this product is for men 18 to 50. I’m 62, but just like another reviewer Sheldon who has nothing but praise for this product. I then did some research on the internet and there were warnings about too much Arginine. A few mentioned tiredness, “weakness. ” They also mention nausea, diarrhea and headaches, which I didn’t experience. One even said, ” Despite [Arginine's] immune system benefits, high doses in some studies suggested an increase in cancer cell growth. ”
So, be careful. I never took a daily dose anywhere near that recommend as a daily dose on the container or like other reviewers. But I did not “cycle” and periodically detox either. I’m also 62 years old. (But what’s Sheldon’s secret!) So, everbody is different. Just be careful using this product. Again, it still has value, but follow the directions.
Now, can anyone explain to me the difference between Arginine and ArginineAKG. I’ve yet to hear an understandable answer!

I am pretty skeptical of all supplements. I try out many, but few live up to the claims. I do get a good pump with this product as advertised, but more importantly I’m getting much better workouts.
I think the dilation of the blood vessels improves energy and performance during the workout through improved circulation. Make sure you drink a lot of water during workouts for maximum pumps. I’ve only been using the product for about a month, and while I haven’t noticed a substantial size increase (of course, it’s only a month), I have noticed a substantial increase in strength on the order of a 30% increase! I wouldn’t believe it either, if it didn’t happen to me.

I’m gonna have to disagree with J. A. on some points. I love Nitrix. When it’s stacked with NO Xplode and Cellmass is when it reaches it’s full potential. I will agree that the “all day pump” is exaggerated. I have definitely have a fuller feeling and hardness all day but it’s not like the after-workout pump. A mini-version of that would be more descriptive.
I have noticed that my recovery time is dramatically reduced. Also, when I hit the weights with this I really hit the weights. At first I was cycling only the NO Xplode and that ramped up my game significantly but when i started on the Nitrix cycle it went to a whole other level of intensity. Focus is pinpoint and the pump afterwards is wicked.
My vascularity has increased as well. I donate blood and before I started using Nitrix my veins showed through and they were able to easily stick me but after starting Nitrix I walk in to donate and the phlebotomists smile because they know there is no trouble finding a good vein at all.
I have noticed a buzzing feeling about 10 minutes after I take my dose. It’s mainly concentrated in my head, neck, and teeth. It’s not distracting. It’s more of an indication that the Nitrix is entering my blood stream and going to work.
I’m not sure how the Nitrix is by itself. I’ve always stacked it with NO X and Cellmass and I can’t complain about the awesomeness of the three combined. If I had to choose one of the products I’d go with the NO X. If I had to choose two of them then it’s the NO X and Cellmass (no loading period with Cellmass!! c’mon!) I like to think of the Nitrix as the icing on an otherwise awesome cake.

I really like BSN products, but I’m not sold on Nitrix at all. First, the caplets are pretty large, so taking 4 or 5 of them at a crack, on top of any other pills you might be taking, makes it a project. Second, it took a week or so both cycles to “ramp up” to where I noticed any effect at all. “All-day pumps” wasn’t one of them. I went through two cycles on Nitrix, and both times stacking it only with CEE, and there was no appreciable difference than when I was only taking CEE as a supplement. Finally, it’s not inexpensive, and in *this* economy. . .
I’m a hard-gainer type, so my own experience with Nitrix may be atypical. So, if someone has gotten really great results adding Nitrix to your supps, please weigh in and share your knowledge. On the other hand, for a nitric oxide supplement that really “kicks it,” I recommend NO Xplode on a cycled basis, stacked with a good CEE supplement and, of course, a top flight protein supplement (I’m particularly partial to ON Whey).
Addendum – 9/28/09: BSN – listen up: Folks like me *might* be more inclined to use Nitrix IF we didn’t have to take a fistful of horse pills 3x a day. Look at this “product features” list from Cell-Mass (a BSN product which I DO use, religiously, despite my skepticism about Nitrix):
Product Features
Flavor: Arctic Berry Blast
* No loading
* No hard to swallow tablets
* No sugar
* No stomach bloat
* No water retention
Did you catch that? A verbatim quote from right here on Amazon. com: “NO HARD TO SWALLOW TABLETS”!!! Nitrix is in tablet form because it’s a time-release supp. Fair enough. However,it would be a more attractive product if it were easier to ingest. Maybe capsules? Or how about a powder like ON’s L-Glutamine? Just a thought. . .

I have cycled this twice now and I can say for certain it makes a big difference for me. In less than two weeks with this stacked with cellmass and no-xlpode, my pumps, endurance, and strength all improved quite a bit. I’ve actually looked in the mirror and laughed because my biceps were so pumped. Both times doing this combination, I had to loosen up my iPod armband because the regular setting (before and in between cycles) was too tight and I actually popped the thing off my arm a couple of times because the pump was so much in my biceps. I’ve tried just the no-xplode alone and didn’t get the same pumps, but did get most of the energy. Flat out, I’m sold on this and plan to continue using it. I guess it may vary from person to person, but it sure works for me.
