When I had my first child, I was in awe of how beautiful she was. After looking in the mirror, I was not quite as happy about what I looked like. The skin on my stomach was sagging. My abdominal muscles had no tone at all. The worst thing of all, though, was the foods that I craved during pregnancy were now firmly attached to my hips and thighs. I knew that if I didn’t make the effort to get fit as soon as possible that time would slip away and I would still be unhappy with my appearance at my daughter’s first birthday.

I had done some reading on the importance of postnatal fitness. It offers many potential benefits for new mothers. It helps you drop that annoying leftover weight and gives you an energy boost. It is also said to be a good deterrent for postpartum depression.

While I originally chose breastfeeding because of the health benefits for my daughter, I soon learned that it had a great benefit for me. One, since I wanted to make sure I was giving my daughter optimum nutrition, I ate better. Two, it burned calories. Between the calories I was burning and the healthier diet, I started losing some of my baby weight.

Since a lot of my body’s fluid was passing out through breast milk, I upped my water intake. It gave my weight loss a little bit of a boost. However, I knew I needed something more to increase my weight loss and help get my hips and thighs back into shape. Since the doctor hadn’t cleared me for full exercise, I decided to start with a low impact workout such as walking. Regular baby pushchairs really aren’t made for faster speeds than walking so I started looking around for a baby jogging stroller.

After searching out many options, I finally found a baby jogger pushchair I really liked. Once I had this stroller, I began to take my daughter to a lake nearby so we could jog together around the walking track. It gave my daughter a chance to get some fresh air and have a fun ride, while I had myself and good workout.

As soon as I got the ok from my doctor that I could exercise normally, we picked up the pace. At first, I was worried that the stroller could not handle me running. However, it gave us both a smooth ride and an enjoyable time together.

It was not long after that I started to notice other mothers taking their children on similar trips to my own with jogging pushchairs. It worked out nice for everyone, the children got a fun ride, and the mothers worked out and chatted amongst themselves about their similar situations.

Once the pounds started slipping away, I added in some strength-training to help tone up. It wasn’t long until the flabbiness disappeared and my stomach began to get taut again. Today I look better than I did before pregnancy.

Of all the fitness related products I have purchased throughout the years, I would say that the jogging stroller is my favorite. No other product can allow you to have a great work out and spend time with your child simultaneously and comfortably. Even now that she is a little bit older, we still go to the track near the lake and jog around in her stroller.

If you enjoyed jogging or even walking before pregnancy, it is a great way to get your body back in shape. A jogging stroller is designed to provide a comfortable ride for your child while allowing you to comfortably hold on while running. While they do tend to cost more than regular strollers, I like to think that having the ability to exercise while sharing time with your child makes up it. Just imagine yourself jogging along with your baby riding contentedly in your baby jogger stroller.
