Different Career Options: Dance As A Performing Art
In the medieval times, anybody who was not well versed in any sort of dance form be it a classical dance form or a traditional dance form was considered not to have been born under a dancing star. The idea that there was a star, which controlled the ability of a person to dance, in itself shows that any sort of dance form is an integral part of the social, ethical, traditional, and cultural heritage of each and every civilization out there.
Dancing can be just about anything, ranging from jumping in a rhythmic style along with the beat of a bongo, rhythmically shaking a spear to display emotions or just throwing your hands about in the air and letting the world know that you just are happy to dance! You can also choose to dance with your partner through the night or dance on home all on your own.
When you check history, you will find that certain forms of dance have withstood the test of time. This includes dances such as the classic forms of dance, like the waltz or ballet which have been around for centuries. Then there are the forms of dance that are classified as new, or fairly new, which you may have heard of. Such new dances are those like break dancing, jazz, hip-hop, tap dancing and cha-cha-cha, to name only a few of them. To do any of these the dancer needs to be creative and make it their own through using the body to emit the feeling of understanding the feel of the music and express it through the art of dance.
There are plenty of career options open for a person who enjoys dancing. You would want to be a trainer of dancers, training them for competitions like Highland Dance competitions, the waltz, the tango, 1930s style dancing, tap dancing, Irish dancing, etc., which means that only one dance style is going to be seen in the competition. So, if you think you can train your group to dance the Highland fling to win the competition, please do so!
Choreography is all. Imagine a musical like Cats not being choreographed perfectly, with all the cats supposedly doing their own thing, but in a manner which makes it seem natural. Imagine the Cats singing rhythmically, but not knowing what to do with their hands and their feet. That is where a choreographer comes in. He is so well-versed in the art of dance that he is going to tell the dancer/singer to lift up one arm high, when she is hitting high C. That is going to give her diaphragm, chest and lungs more space to expand. So if you think that you know about the coordination of dance, rhythm and song, choreography is the career for you.
As a performing artist another form of dance that enjoys worldwide popularity is ballroom dancing. This is a beautiful dance form and the competitions are found around the world with a prize to take for the winner. The professional performers compete in the Latin and other traditional competitions. Teaching dance or being a sport coach is yet other option to consider, and Pilates or yoga instruction can be an alternative.
